I've nearly died from multiple heatstrokes working outside due to poor temperature management skills, I'm horrible at knowing when to cool off and often overexert myself telling myself I'll cool off when done with X, and X is often only done after I've already run out of sweat and get that cold feeling washin over. I don't have that problem when it's freezing outside cause if I get hot I can just throw a layer off and keep going.

I'm with you. Moved from SoCal where it never snows (except in the mountains) to a place with actual winters and I fucking love it. Like you say, you can always put more clothes on, there's a limit to how much you can take off, and where I am now it rarely even gets out of the 80s, I can comfortably ride my motorcycle in full gear almost all summer.
