I used to think getting high was the greatest thing ever too, but it really just enables mediocrity and a bunch of other garbage traits.

Something happened where I would explain things to people at work and they would look at me like I was crazy and they wouldn't understand me.
My wife could regardless understand my thought process.
I never smoked during work hours but the habit definitely made me retarded during the day.
I quit cold turkey on new years day 2023 after smoking everyday for 15 odd years. What got me over the withdrawal was a sleep aid which is what I think causes it. Unisom is the magic drug. Quit cold turkey and when you can't sleep pop one. No withdrawal symptoms and I had an appetite the next day.
I wish I never smoked it. Shit ruined so much and I put up with such mediocrity.

I smoked every day for years. Quit all other drugs and drinking and would get on my high horse about it. These days I drink loads and smoke crack and it's way better for my mental health as long as I keep the crack to one of two days a week and dont go ridiculous on the alcohol. I've smoked daily ever since I had a motorcycle accident when I was 25 after being completely straight edge. I did everything that I was told by society and was a good boy, but all the shitty people ignoring the rules were getting everything.

One day I was just shaking and pacing around non-stop, unable to turn my brain off. Just negative thoughts pounding me non-stop causing me problems with breathing and eating, just casual anxiety attacks which were me just SEETHING. My sister handed me a joint and said try this. I immediately latched on and began having a blast at my PC on it being obnoxious stoned all the time. Tolerance settled in and now I feel like my default state is that pacing around seething shaking frustration unable to function normally. I smoke and relax but get tired at the same time, drink coffee to get rid of the tired and I'm normal essentially by juggling thc and caffeine.

I have smoked everyday for 15 years. I've had a full time job for 15 years and very rarely miss a day. I do everything but I need weed as a limiter otherwise I'm fucking frustrated with how shit everything is I can barely breathe.

Personal anecdotal experience.

Smoke for the first time at 31.

Been nearly a decade since then.

I intentionally keep my tolerance low, and only smoke when I'm writing (I often write for several hours at a time). I have found it to be a very useful tool for creative thought, it's like a mental lubricant for me. I am just a creative without it, but ideas flow more readily when I've had a little puff.

Not everybody is cut out to be a shaman like me. Don't smoke while you're brain is still developing, keep your tolerance low, and smoke only with a specific intention in mind, and it's possible to gain real benefits from weed. But for 99% of people, it's probably not good for them.

There was a brief period when I first started smoking where I was smoking too much, but I recognized the slippery slope and then created a living situation which removed the constant temptation from my home environment. I now have a place I go to for writing and smoking, but not everyone has this luxury.
