The way he said it was unnecessarily inflammatory, but he's right. Humans NEED a sense of growth, progress, and accomplishment in order to feel fulfilled, but kids can't really do anything; they have no skills, no knowledge base, their motor skills are still developing, they're very restricted in society with what they're allowed to get into and to do. Video games trick your brain into celebrating growth, progress, and accomplishment in a digital environment, leading to a sense of fulfilment, and video games are accessible to children. It's a real problem that when we grow up, we stick with the vidya for our fulfillment instead of getting it from something tangible and meaningful. It's really bad if you never ultimately get those skills, knowledge, etc in the real world because you spend all your time on vidya instead.
It's pretty similar to porn in that way. Porn and masturbation tricks your brain into thinking you've scored, which lowers your overall motivation. I don't want to lecture you or anything. It's just worth considering.
