No, it'll just be Reno. Ever been to Reno or walked around? Downtown area is 50% boarded up buildings and half the casino exits are locked up. Nobody's on the street and the city's remaining core is owned by the same company who has a walkway between all of their properties. The parking garage tram was shut down during covid and will never reopen. Areas outside the strip degrade into junkie pothead tweaker madness and all the prestige shopping malls are abandoned or become asian day spas then redeveloped.

In short, it'll be a lot like Los Angeles. Which is where most Vegas locals moved from anyway. LV is just an exurb of LA in the same way Reno manages to be part of the Sac metro area. Which is by design because by advertising itself to Californians this way, Reno doesn't pretend to be anything special just cheap. Because Reno's booze prices are 1/2 of SF's, the business works.

I worked in casinos for almost 10 years. The only people making money are the employees and some poker players. People were generally in a bad mood. Saw people lose tens of thousands in one night. I was just surveillance, so I wasn't out on the floor being actively involved, but I still felt dirty. I was lucky to get out of the industry, as I had been told many times it's hard to get out. Casino experience doesn't transfer to any other job, so you either go back to school while working or you get a job through connections

Besides, when I have time off work it's so much better just to enjoy it pottering about, at the gym, just basking in the joy of having nothing but me time for a week or two. If you get bored and need to go abroad during time off you have no imagination and probably quite stupid.
