I'm not sure if it's just a US thing, but we're full on in bible story waters. Giant bulls could descend from the sky and go on a rampage in NYC tomorrow and reality would actually start making more sense. I think some of it could be a proportion thing. There is no one capable of replacing the United States. Russia collapsing. China is weaker than most realize. So its possible the US will be weaker but still the strongest because the competition sucks. Even though he British Empire collapsed it still has a lot of influence...arguably more than Russia. I think people when they say they expect a Roman style collapse but even that happened extremely slowly over centuries. Also technological advantages make it so difficult to be surpassed by smaller nations or up and coming nations. There just aren't any foreseeable candidates. It certainly won't be India. And the two oceans on either side are still a geographical advantage.

I have some bad news for you anon, the powers that be have a new system that has been in the development for decades now, ready to be rolled out in the coming years. It will operate in parallel starting sometime this year and by the next decade it will be fully operational as the Agenda 2030 goals are slowly being implemented.

Collapse doesn't really come in stages. Some countries are peeled apart bit by bit militarily, some explode in popular uprising, some fuck up the ecology so bad everyone starves or dies of some plague. Our crisis will probably be about energy because we designed our society to not only grow but to grow faster every year forever, and even if nuclear and renewables work they don't work exponentially like that, a solar powered excavator runs through its entire lifetime to mine enough cobalt to built one and a half new solar excavators. A nuclear powerplant generates enough electricity to make like, most of one nuclear power plant every ten years. Even if it's not mad max world, the world where there's more energy next year than there was this year is probably ending, and we don't have anything prepared for what that means.
