What Trump wants is to radically redesign the West. Since this means stripping western Europe of political/industrial power so something like ww1/2/Donbass can never happen again, the minor concessions he can give Putin today absolutely pale in comparison to the long term consequences of gradually abandoning Europe to its own self congratulatory idiocy.

Complete bullshit and disinformation. They're negotiating for Iran. Russia gets some of their war goals greenlit while America gets to do a full invasion without their intervention. The EU was not brought into the negotiations because of specifically this. And this is only being "leaked" as a distraction from the actual deal that was negotiated.
