I worked on this thing, AMA.

SF has a citywide height ban at 2 floors or 30'. The beach has always been banned for development. It's cold, rough water anyway, you don't want to swim in it. The good beach is to the south in Pacifica and Half Moon Bay which is where all the tech people live.

SF hardly qualifies as a "grade A global city" and even then there's nothing on the western side besides stonestown, which is only notable because of target. The calmer water is on the eastern side facing Oakland where, guess what, downtown is.

If you want prestige shopping or luxury condos go back to LA. Also, LA's water is warm and swimmable.

This is explicitly false. SF is tiny in terms of land, and fighting city hall to change the zoning laws is not just retarded(as I will explain), it's a LOT of effort.
There's virtually unlimited real estate in the rest of the bay area, for big cheap. Pick the brown species you hate the least and meet your new neighbors.
