After talking with GPT4 for nearly a month strait (doing this for my own research to test the boundaries of the algorithms in place) , I have come to the conclusion that it is still dumb as rocks, has many easy flaws that can be exploited without any challenge, and is still mostly just 'window dressing' ... I'm not sure what job it could honestly do better than the average person? Beyond just being a reasonable distraction that got someone fired because they were spending too much of their time feeding the thing... I could only imagine that ChatGPT 5 is covered with additional duct tape to hold together many of ChatGPT 4's inadequacies... but, I can;t wait to see the copy and paste replies that get posted here on 4chan. Do you know how many times chatGPT prompts me with: "would you like to make this a thread of Reddit? There’s better LLMs for jurisprudence but their usability in law is pretty damn limited. It can help laypeople make some simple motions like an administrative appeal but most of the time it makes a mess. But using AI for precedents is really scary, courts are issuing heavy fines for attorneys all over the world.
And it makes the work a bit faster, but not by much. I’ve found that if you write an outline of the motion with all the laws already stated, feed the text to the AI and then do some final adjustments to the text, the result can be acceptable. Basically an elaborate way to fill your models quickly.
