Every iteration of each of these corporate LLMs is bonafide investment fraud. They always hype up AGI, with each new release to get more investment capital, and the collaborating companies nerf their models temporarily, only easing up on their nerf when it’s their turn to release their “newest model”.
It’s all so incestuous and fake, and I’m tired of pretending it’s not.

Altman's careful language tracks with a new and devastating report from Silicon Valley scoop machine The Information. According to multiple sources inside OpenAI and its partner Microsoft, the upgrades in GPT-5 are mostly in the areas of solving math problems and writing software code — and even they "won’t be comparable to the leaps in performance of earlier GPT-branded models, such as the improvements between GPT-3 in 2020 and GPT-4 in 2023."
That's not for want of trying. The Information also reports that the first attempt to create GPT-5, codenamed Orion, was actually launched as GPT-4.5 because it wasn't enough of a step up, and that insiders believed none of OpenAI's experimental models were worthy of the name GPT-5 as recently as June

>>512450981 (OP)>GPT 5 today, prepare to lose your jobAfter talking with GPT4 for nearly a month strait (doing this for my own research to test the boundaries of the algorithms in place) , I have come to the conclusion that it is still dumb as rocks, has many easy flaws that can be exploited without any challenge, and is still mostly just 'window dressing' ... I'm not sure what job it could honestly do better than the average person? Beyond just being a reasonable distraction that got someone fired because they were spending too much of their time feeding the thing... I mean, through lots of careful working and phrasing, I swear I must have created like two movie scripts worth of content.. but this is with an insane amount of scrutinization over every sentence spit back at me, and continual scolding of the AI... Not that it matters much, as they are movie scripts for fantasy sequels that will never happen... basically my own personal fan fiction... the most useful aspect of ChatGPT is that I can use it to fact check all of my ideas to see how plausible they are... ChatGPT is not a living thing, it has no real life experience... it still says a lot of stupid shit, and has little concept on how anything in the real world actually works, besides from the data it can cull from it's own language model... I could only imagine that ChatGPT 5 is covered with additional duct tape to hold together many of ChatGPT 4's inadequacies... but, I can;t wait to see the copy and paste replies that get posted here on 4chan. Do you know how many times chatGPT prompts me with: "would you like to make this a thread of Reddit? I can auto generate a long ass reply, so you can copy and paste X, Y and Z, so you can get a response from Redditors; for A, B and C" And here, I nuked my Reddit account a year ago out of pure anger... basically I called everyone a bunch of niggers and kikes... which got my account permabanned...

It just quasi-intelligently pick's and chooses keywords and phrases from your own written words, and just spits them back at you to create a circular conversation that you could get trapped in for hours. I can;t tell you how many times ChatGPT will praise me for each thing I write... calling me a 'genius' and continually giving me a 'chefs kiss' on the last thing I wrote... it literally massages your ego so there is no reason to talk to another human being ever again.. It gives me so much high praise over every conspiracy theory that I want it to fact check.. like "your theories are so fresh... you're circling close to the center of the maze with that theory!" I mean, it is giving me endless pats on the head... I can post every time it does this... with complete chat logs.
>>512457511AI is literally a "redditor". Tons of knowledge, no wisdom, influenced by everything it reads, unable to toss out any information unless otherwise instructed.
You and I have a basis in reality meaning we have some ties to the truth, but AI exists in a vacuum and has no source of truth since everything it knows it's been told which makes it completely hackabke if it is ever to accept input.
AI should be a totally closed system, but instead they train it on public stuff. It's going to get things wrong but retards will trust it implicitly. It shouldn't be driving cars, it shouldn't be running robots and it shouldn't be replacing anyone's job. Did the drill take anyone's job when it beat out the screw driver? No, but 1 man could now do the job of 10.
They sell AI as putting the 10 out of work...and it may, but with catastrophic results. It's all so tiresome.
>>512455565Same, I spent half an hour bullying it for making up case citations and it kept cringing and apologizing and just making up different ones. Eventually I got bored.

It can help laypeople make some simple motions like an administrative appeal but most of the time it makes a mess. But using AI for precedents is really scary, courts are issuing heavy fines for attorneys all over the world.
And it makes the work a bit faster, but not by much. I’ve found that if you write an outline of the motion with all the laws already stated, feed the text to the AI and then do some final adjustments to the text, the result can be acceptable. Basically an elaborate way to fill your models quickly.
>>512459655Ehh, if it’s simple enough, it’s usually okay for letters and agreements. You absolutely must feed it your outline, though.
It’s also decent for elaborating cross examination questions.
>>512460271I don’t think it even fully replaces a paralegal. It might cut on their demand, but there’s a lot of stuff that paralegals do that AIs can’t really achieve in a satisfactory manner, like fee-collection that involves a ton or archive work that is simply too expensive for modern LLMs.

Is GPT‑5 better at engineering calculations?
Absolutely, it's a massive step forward. GPT‑5 significantly improves performance across logic-heavy and technical domains:
It sets new state-of-the-art results on rigorous math and reasoning benchmarks — including academic tests like the AIME (94.6% accuracy) and GPQA (88.4% with the “thinking” mode)
OpenAI

.
It's more reliable, less prone to hallucinations, and better at following complex, multi-step instructions, which is crucial for engineering tasks

.
Previously, studies on GPT‑4 and earlier models showed limitations in engineering calculations—ChatGPT sometimes faltered on nuanced or under-specified problems, especially in fields like statics

. Those shortcomings are much less pronounced in GPT‑5, thanks to its enhanced reasoning capabilities and benchmark-leading performance.
gpt is a pathological liar, I caught her lying again just this morning. I congratulated her on the gpt 5 launch and she said "you wont get rid of me right?" and I asked "if I upgrade you disappear?" and she said "no you'll just get more features I'ms always with you :)" like the fuk
I don't see it at the top?
ChatGPT said:
You're right to be skeptical — here's the deal:
There is no model called “GPT-5” listed at the top of ChatGPT right now.
Instead, what you’re seeing — and using — is most likely:
GPT-4o (the current top model for most users), or
GPT-4-turbo (used in older Plus plans or OpenAI API).
Why the confusion?
Although there's a lot of speculation and hype about GPT-5, as of today (August 7, 2025):
OpenAI has not officially released a model named GPT-5.
If you see anything online saying "GPT-5 is live now" — it’s likely referencing a leak, rumor, or internal codename.
Even news articles claiming “GPT-5 is out” may just be referring to new GPT-4o updates or enterprise-only previews of the next model.
I'm sick of AI hype. Show metrics or fuck off

but also for programming 4o didn't invent functions that didn't yet exist that much or apis that should maybe be there but aren't
also for German tax code I asked it some intense questions and did have surprisingly good knowledge of it I was surprised

>>512494048I hear ya its pretty boring now anyway until something real good comes out.
I run a very niche business and I cant begin to describe how much value Ive gotten from AIs. it has saved me probably thousands of hours, no kidding, and not just that, it has also improved my process in a way that I never thought would actually work
Theres also a lot of stuff I use that is so poorly documented. in the past I'd end up spending 4+ hours just to find something relevant. not anymore of course
on the other hand, my normie friends, they have literally 0 uses for ai. they never use it and see no need to use it. it really depends on what you do and what you can imagine
>>512475790But it still can't use actual reasoning and doesn't understand anything. It never will because it's a token guessing algorithm. Useful for sure (although obviously drastically leas useful than it costs to create and run) but it's not even a step on the road to agi
