This is how it is in many areas around the world, including Europe, because tourists/YouTubers tend to just go to the city centers. In America, there's nothing interesting in the city center because cities are just suburbs but have more tall buildings and concrete. Russia has cities with 100's of years of history and so have interesting locations in the center.

As much as I hate the US, Russia is worse in some ways. Trash is one of them. Look up residential commieblocks in like Yekaterinburg or something. You will see trash in a lot of places.

Anon, Russians at least get to own a home. They often prefer to build their own since it's cheaper than buying. I will likely never own a home, and building is out of the question for me for the same reason. The Russians legitimately have it better than I do on this front.

I'm pretty sure that many Russians do own commieblock apartments. It's not rented. But Russia is shitty in many other ways such as bad roads, trash, drug and alcohol problems, women whoring themselves out (just check out Pornhub, a giant chunk of the white women are from Russia). It's not as bad as what Western propaganda makes it out to be, but it's still pretty shitty and Russians are miserable.

A good indicator of the quality of life in my opinion, is the suicide rate of the country, particularly the male suicide rate. America is basically as high as Russia's, while all of the actual 1st world countries are a lot lower except Korea/Japan.

He should take a visit outside city centres, there you'll find people littering everything. We also effectively don't have any recycling so there's absolutely no incentive to pick up glass bottles or plastics.
