See the issue is that Israel has been proximate cause of antipathy towards the US from middle eatern nations for a very long time. The number of times the US has had to step and diffuse a bad situation that Israel created, while ruining our relations with others, can't be counted on both hands.
It's not an unexpected problem when you look at who Israel's founders were, ruthless, criminal, supremacist. Leads to a rogue, duplicitous nation we have to babysit, suffer their spies and bribery, and then send billions to.
In hindsight, I can't point to a singular instance where Israel has been of great benefit to the US.
