They were choked by their own PC culture. Because they could not go after the protected classes they once targeted for laughs anymore. Protected classes like trannies. Episodes from seasons 13, 14, and 15, were some of the worst of the era. Then when season 16 rolled around; the introduction of PC principal was southpark's attempt at both rehabbing the image of PC culture and justifying it. Trying to make it work. Trying to tell jokes from a position of power. Which wasn't funny. It was just condescension piled on top of condescension.
