Untrue. macOS was its own thing until 10, which was when they rebased themselves on FreeBSD, a UNIX-like OS that the Open Group refuses to certify for "not being real UNIX."
As of MacOS 11, all FreeBSD code has been stripped out, too, replaced by their own coreutils and kernel.
There is zero authentic UNIX code in macOS. They paid money for their certification so they could use it in advertising, this is open information.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called β€œLinux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.
Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called β€œLinux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Nigger what? These are handled by your desktop environment, not your operating system. You can change these at will.
The main difference between distros for an every day user is how packages are managed (i.e. how you install and update shit)

How long did you stick with each one? You should try sticking with each one until you iron out any issues you're having, it's how you learn. Eventually you'll be experienced enough to use any of them with just a few changes. You'll know what's happening and why.

I dual-booted Windows and Pop for just over a year, then dual booted Mint and Manjaro for about 2 years before finally moving to Arch.

It isn't 2008 anymore. Your PC will run Windows programs/games faster using Linux. You'll experience rock solid stability as well as better compatibility with legacy software that no longer runs on Windows, since Wine has better legacy support. Since Wine translates calls on the fly, you can LARP as Windows better and faster than Windows can be Windows, because it is full of bloat. You can run multiple instances of things no problem, as they are isolated. You have much better alt-tab stability, and can treat your entire system and all running programs like tabs in a browser. Such are the benefits of not spending resources on telemetry so you can be datamined in real time like a good goy.

Compare system calls between the two. These graphs are old, it's even worse now. Mac is just gay, by the way.

No it's not. Linux Mint is the same experience as windows, max/min/close buttons in same spot, dashboard and start menu in same spot. By far the easiest for beginner and experienced. Ubuntu is terrible simply because they gave it a gay name and put the dashboard on the left and crippled any settings that put it at bottom.

Priority for most ppl is user base and help. When I Google a problem on Mint I have the answer right there because 60% of the market is Mint/Ubuntu. Arch manjar doesn't have that plus everything breaks all the time.

you're going to use whatever opsec supports as a desktop. No shop is going to allow you to build and maintain your own desktop OS in 2025
You might as well use the OS you're going to need to tweak in a job so you learn how it works.
Look how many people are still crying about systemd because they're still on the learning curve. They should be learning that stuff on their home hobby box so they can lead their teams at work.
I worked in a jeet shop that refused to learn systemd. Our networking was completely niggerrigged for years before I finally got them to start using current tech for installs.

you can basically use whatever works for you but I recommend people to stay away from ubuntu based distros because they go against linux and GNU as a whole. They have replaced core GNU components of kernel and used more restrictive licensing. If you have to use it then go with Debian. Otherwise Arch will do just fine.

linux is very stable once you get it installed fully. the key is choosing a distro that works well with yoru hardware - this isn't hard to figure out. otherwise just avoid distros that break shit on the regular. Mint is extremely reliable and a good place for people new to linux. Once you know your way around there are other options. I think KDE is fantastic and that is my main priority.

Gentoo is what you want.
Devs are based, at worst apolitical (which means far right by today standard). They removed the default cuck "help feed poor children in Uganda" ad in vanilla Vim and give you absolute complete freedom to install whatever the fuck you want.
Because they have to deal with actually building upstream packages and making the build process easy to end users who also have to build them in every possible configuration, they naturally came to hate rust and other soidev bloated crap.
The only better OS I could conceivably think of is OpenBSD but unfortunately the hardware support kind of sucks. I'll make the switch when Linux inevitably degenerates into a bloated cluster fuck of rust crates, cmake/ninja build system and nigger/troon friendly code of conduct.

That makes sense. Helps with becoming a shaved man instead of a big bearded one fairly quickly after a report or similar. However, i still think it is better to keep staying clean shaven, if that was your default for a decade, and you have never weared a beard in front of cameras before. Which somewhat defeat the original purpose of my reply because you've clearly addressed ex-beardchads who got shaven.
