As a foreigner I can't help but feel that the empire has been a net negative for the British. You have this fascination with south east asia for example which aside from Singapore and maybe Malaysia I have always regarded as a shithole. Also, I honestly take issue with the idea of "European colony" because unless the land was already empty beforehand or sparsely populated there was no demographic change to any of the "colonies" which is strange compared to the likes of Islamic conquests for instance which permanently altered the demographics of areas they incorporated.

When the Norman's conquered England, the peasants stayed and the gentry got their lands taken away and were replaced by the Normans. They got to lord over peasants. When the British/Americans conquered North America, the Indians had to flee to swamps or deserts and then the British/Americans got some great farmland and prospered.

Today, like when the US beat Iraq, no soldier got any land at all. All that happened is that some corporations got control of Iraq's oil supply and Saddam was deposed for the benefit of Israel.

I guess, if you want to do right for your race, you need to have an over-population problem and a people in need of good farmland. Farms these days are not for everyone. We really need to think about the purpose of any of these wars and ask ourselves if it's worth it.
