we have options for pure sugar soda in the US. pepsi is made with sugar, nobody buys it. coke outsells pepsi massively. most people say it's too sweet. coca cola themselves every now and then release a limited sugar variant. the grocery store always has boutique sodas with real sugar. if you like sugar soda, it's always been there to buy in the US. I don't see what forcing coke to change accomplishes.

What was truly bizarre is that they omitted the important fact that the modern Pepsi is made with sugar too (in addition to being made with HCFS). Unlike Coca-Cola, they've never been shy to mess with their cola recipe with throwback/lite editions, as well as modifications to their main soda line like I mentioned.
