I heard a theory that the Romans latched on to the cult surrounding Jesus and decided to promote it and make changes to it (like how you don't need to be circumcised to be Christian) in order to get the subversive Jews within the empire, especially those in Rome, integrated. I.e. they would give up their ways an intermarry.
That it was also a way to easily keep the uppidity Jews who were looking to subvert and revolt against Rome more pacified. Hey you don't need to start rebellions and wars to try to bring on the messiah he already came. This type of thing.
I'm not saying I believe it like it's a fact but I did sound interesting. Especially when you consider that the Jews (when they started to really grow in power and influence in America) promoted things like the Scofield Bible, which got the Christians on board with the Zionist project and subverted their religion.
Keep in mind that I actually don't wish to cause any offence to people who are Christian. I think it's entirely possible that this type of subversion process (done by those in power, to benefit themselves) is entirely possible even if you are a Christian and sincere about it.
There are some passages in the bible, like "Render unto Caesar" when reading it, did make me think that is something that would've been beneficial to the Romans if they got a Jew in the empire to convert and they took that as their new main holy book.
What do people think of this? Can anyone who has read more of the bible and studied ancient Rome weigh in on this? I can believe the Scofield subversion stuff so it has made me wonder if this type of thing has happened before.
