There is nothing to fix. Its a blessing. Japan has a population of 124 million at the moment. It was 100 million in 1970 and nobody said it was underpopulated then.
What happens if the population goes down is this: There is a short period of discomfort as the economy readjusts. Then two very important factors come into play. First the real value of wages increases in response to labor shortages. The working people have more money. Second the value of land and houses decreases in response to lower demand. Less people, lower demand, its not rocket science. All of his means that young people can now afford their own homes, can afford to have more children and them at a younger age, and many women can go back to traditional housewife roles becasue a single income can now support a family. You know, like it used to be.
So population goes down, plateaus, and then starts to creep back up again.
The discomfort? Extended families under one roof again. Corporations make less money. Real estate sharks make less money. Its all very much a win for the common people if you rule out having to look after your grandparents rather than put them in rest homes at a drop of a hat.
Jesus Christ I hate this 'population crisis" bullshit, its just an excuse to bring in more immigrants as cheap labor to replace the native people who just want to enjoy a decent quality of life.
Fuck. Just look at the Black Death that wiped out between 1/4 and 1/3 of Europe's population in the Middle Ages. Guess what? The population recovered just fine. There was no plunge to zero. Fuck the idiots who think population decline is bad, its all a big smokescreen.
