Asians in the US are almost entirely concentrated in high cost of living areas:

Most White people live in low cost of living areas:

Here are the highest cost of living states in the US:
https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/cost-of-living-index-by-state
High cost of living areas pay much higher salaries than low cost of living areas, example Salt Lake City vs Los Angeles:

>SLC 25% cheaper than LA>housing is 46% cheaper in SLCLA average household income is $116k average with a median of $76k

SLC average household income is $107k with a median of $72k:
https://www.point2homes.com/US/Neighborhood/UT/Salt-Lake-City-Demographics.html
Asians are much more likely to have multigenerational households:
https://www.statista.com/statistics/638956/race-and-ethnicity-of-us-households-by-size/
And Asians are the highest earners by household income:
https://www.statista.com/statistics/233324/median-household-income-in-the-united-states-by-race-or-ethnic-group/
How is household income determined? By combining all incomes inside a household. So an Asian family with 3-5 working adults making $50k each is going to outperform a White household with 2 working adults making $75k each.
When you also take into account that the average household income in areas populated by Asians is only about 8% higher than more White areas but cost of living is 25% higher in the Asian area it becomes apparent that Asians are actually poorer on average than White people.
