Alright, the question’s in the title. Got into a debate at work with a colleague about promiscuity in women and why a lot of men see it as a dealbreaker. I know it sounds outdated, but when she pressed me for a reason, all I could say was, “It’s just gross.” I feel like most guys have that same knee-jerk reaction, but is there any legit science or psychology backing it up?
I tried doing a quick search, but all I find are think-pieces and social media threads telling me I’m stuck in the past and should “reframe my mindset” to be cool with it. Meanwhile, every dating podcast, TikTok panel, and red-pill YouTuber seems to swear it’s still a big red flag.
So… is there actually something deeper going on here, or is this just one of those holdover instincts we haven’t dropped yet?
