There's nothing deep or profound about Batman's "no kill" rule. In his earliest issues Batman used guns and killed criminals like the Shadow, who he is just a ripoff of in a bat costume. Not killing was an adaptation to the Comic Code that forbade comic book characters from killing the villain, and now almost a century later reddit soicucks will engage in pseudophilosophical babble to try to explain how deep it is that Batman never kills the Joker while the Joker continues to murder people in the thousands. So as much hate as Zack Snyder got for having his Batman kill and torture people, he was actually closest to the OG 1940s Batman. And honestly, murdering criminals is what makes vigilantes interesting, so having a vigilante who won't kill is like having a sandwich with nothing between the bread, especially considering that actual cops commit extralegal killings all the time, often for justifiable reasons, but just as often not. The whole point of being a vigilante is that some people just need killing but the system is fucked and can't touch them. You have to have a vigilante character who is willing to kill and will at times maybe kill the wrong person to make the while question of vigilante justice interesting. Otherwise your vigilante is just a weak faggot who won't even do what most good cops would do in the right circumstances.
