Have you noticed the uptick of propaganda against growing your own food "for climate change"?
By doing it yourself you massively reduce the carbon footprint of your produce, but they hate it. Why? THEY DON'T PROFIT.

Your wellbeing will always be tertiary to them.

I haven’t seen an uptick but there was definitely a wave of “home gardens have 5x the carbon footprint as conventional farms” because of one study. Might be true but shouldn’t dissuade anyone from gardening.

I bought my house in 2019 and the next year I tore everything up and planted almost entirely edible plants and trees. Most people in my neighborhood have shitty yards, some have nice ornamentals, but mine now stands apart and I get compliments all the time. I planted for food but also aesthetics and it took a few years but I’m really happy with where it’s at now.

It’s a great hobby and I love coming home from work and harvesting, pruning, weeding and so forth. My kids get to learn a lot and like harvesting and eating the food too. I don’t spray anything besides dish soap for aphids and I know what goes into the soil. It’s a win-win.

That's three news articles all talking about the one (1) study which apparently was funded in part by the agricultural industry.

and all that one (1) study talks about is how urban farming, in cities, has more of an impact than rural farming. That's true of literally everything in cities vs rural areas, there's more heat there's more pollution there's more industry, etc.

>By doing it yourself you massively reduce the carbon footprint of your produce,

As someone who grows about 50% of what I eat, I can confidently say that this is 100% bullshit. There is seriously no competing with commercial farms on efficiency. 1 farmer with 1 giant tractor is 1000x more efficient than 10 farmers with 10 straight piped junkers. The scale alone is incredible. A commercial farmer could feed 100x the amount of people a homestead could.

The problem is the same as it is everywhere. Kikes. Kikes manipulate the markets by throwing away food. Kikes pay eachother to not grow food in the first place. They manipulate the markets and conspire to keep prices high and production low.

No but North Americans like their grass lawns and boomers aren’t going to change. I have two small lawns, one is ground thyme the other microclover (which I mow to keep the leaves smaller). The clover is nice but after a few years it is showing it doesn’t handle compaction as well as grass and I’ll probably have to reseed some spots next year. I also weed the thyme and clover a bit to keep it looking more like a monoculture which entertains my boomer neighbour who thinks it’s funny that I pull grass from my clover lawn while he does the opposite.

The pollinators love the thyme and clover. My urban yards are oases for insects and birds.

Mulch with lawn clippings or cut weeds. Your flag shows Poland, so try scything to get good grass. You can either lay down the dead weeds/grass directly on the ground by your crops, or you can cut it up and put it in buckets with water. Let it decompose in the water for a couple days then you can pour out the water on the plants. It's like a natural fertilizer.

Red currants are great and as anon said super easy to propagate you can just cut off a stick and put it in the ground or a pot with peat moss and it’ll root in no time.

People usually make jellies with them but I don’t eat refined sugar so I eat them plain or with some yogurt. I have lots so I also blend them with other berries and fruit, use a food mill to remove seeds and then dehydrate them to make fruit leather (I freeze a lot and my family eats it throughout the year). They add a nice sour taste to fruit leather. I also juice them and freeze that in cubes and add them to sparkling water.

Look it up there must be an equivalent in Poland. People call them fruit roll ups too because of a brand of sugary ones.

Blend up practically any fruit, you can bring it to a simmer and add honey if you want, add a bit of lemon juice, spread on a tray and dehydrate. You’ll be left with a pliable sheet of dried fruit material and it’s a great snack and stores very well. I remove seeds because once I made it with wild blackberries and red currants and it turned into a tasty yet practically inedible seedy sheet.

Consider getting a scythe too. It's like running a long razorblade along the ground, and cuts down the weeds and unwanted grasses in a fashion that renders them much more usable than a powered lawn mower which basically "blends" the grass and weeds, making them harder to collect and making them decompose faster. You want the longer grasses/weeds because it creates more of a "long-game" decomposition process. It releases the nitrogen back into the soil much more slowly and over a longer period of time. It also retains moisture much longer.

That being said, if you are going the fertilizer route -- rake up your lawn clippings from a powered mower and put them in buckets. Shorter clippings decompose and break down faster, and the water should look like a nice brown or dark green color and smell like decomposition when it's ready to pour over your plants.

Free fertilizer, provided by nature.

My uncle used to have 20 acres of grapes. He still has an acre of zins that are almost 100 years old, but nobody farms them.

My honest advice to not reinvent the wheel. This knowledge hasn't changed very much in 100 years. Sure there are some new and exciting things happening, but the basics are still there. The best way to learn is to just show up to the fields and ask to help. Explain to them what you are doing and offer to help in exchange for knowledge. Farmers will tell you everything as long as you are willing to work a bit. If the work is too hard at first don't feel bad. It can take a few months for your body to get into farming shape. Just keep coming back. They won't hold it against you and will respect you for trying. Soon enough you will be walking 30 rows a day no problem.

Safe to assume now it's fermented dry. You can test this by taste or by measuring sg, which should read 1.000
Now you can bottle it. You have an option to go bottle-fermented sparkling (inquire for more information) or just still table wine. Add a teeny-tiny amount of sulfite into bottle if you choose still wine.
If you bottle it too soon then you're gonna be popping corks in your attic. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. Literally calm your tits and put a condom over the airlock.

When buying yeast, you may see the terms "top" or "bottom" yeast. It doesn't refer to which position you prefer in your gay sex, but rather whether the yeast colony will live in your brew. Top yeast floats, bottom doesn't. I'd like to try mixing the two and seeing how that goes.

With the best of the best yeast you will max out around 18% ABV. With others they will die off before you get there. Hitting 10% should be easy even with suboptimal yeast as long as you have the right sugar/water ratio. Too much will kill the yeast.

>do I need to peel off the grapes ? Someone told me they need to be skinless
lol, well it depends. you dont have to peel them manually if thats what youre saying, thatd be ridiculous and kinda funny, but after you're done harvesting them you have to crush them to start their fermentation.
remove the stalk and whatever leaves fell in, of course
red wines benefit from starting fermentation with the skin and all, when they stop and get cold you can crush them again and filter them, while whites usually need to have everything removed right after the first crushing.
>do I need to use ((special)) yeast or regular yeast for bread like Caputo company is also ok?
the special yeasts work much better of course because they're engineered for the purpose, but it is still yeast...
if you're in doubt, ask your local farmers for tips, maybe in exchange for some honest work. after all, harvest IS in a month or so!
and unlike what some might have you believe, most of the work to get a good wine happens in the cellar, the field is just maintenance work.

>>512550475
>What are the chances I will kill / blind myself/poison if something goes wrong
decently slim unless you fuck up by throwing sugar into finished wine (absolutely do NOT do this unless you really like poison)
unlike moonshine, basically all the juice you can get from the grapes is valuable. if you fuck up there are methods to correct course but the most likely bad end is accidentally letting it complete fermentation and become vinegar. not harmful, but also not what you want. it'll be great on salad though, and a viable option if what you get doesnt end up well! it's incredibly easy to turn wine into vinegar.

by the way, if you haven't, don't skimp out on plant maintenance. the chemicals are far worse for human health than what you can use in wine but they help a ton against parasites. they might even be required for infestations and certain disease, especially those carried by pic related! be sure to check.

Any time I get any kind of animal or pet, I keep chickens now too, she cries and says I hope you don’t get more. It doesn’t make any sense. This dumb whore boomer left my grandad over him balding and spurted out 1 kid, my teenage mom she shouted abuse at endlessly and threw pots and pans at. She’s 72, I help her and her brother with things, he’s a couple years older, I’m the only person in the family that extends much care towards them, I don’t expect I’ll get anything from it either, they hardly manage to accumulate or maintain much, but it’s so jarring and depressing, they’re constantly depressed and stressed out too but it’s self inflicted. True.
CO2 levels are only a quarter of what they should be for optimal plant growth.
If they reached that optimal level, there wouldn't be any measurable increase of global average temperatures directly caused by the CO2, but the reforestation which would naturally occur could stretch as far as the core of the Sahara and the Outback deserts, which WILL reduce the global average temperature since the averages there are so hot.

Well said, what causes a C02 drought or large fluctuations in the levels, and how could it be fixed?
More humans or animals (to exhale C02)?
Burn more stuff?
There has to be a natural cycle for this but id imagine its difficult to find out, buried beneath globohomo propaganda

>Have you noticed the uptick of propaganda against growing your own food "for climate change"?
No, I have not. lol nobody propagandizes against you growing your own food. At worst the only thing you'll hear is "it's too difficult, it's not worth your time and effort." And depending on the climate you live and your income, both of those statements can be true.
You people are making things up to feel persecuted, just like jews.
