>and god created people knowing that they were hardwired to do that
People aren't hardwired to do that. The vast majority of people never torture/kill children. People have free will and choose to be evil. You are just as capable of freely choosing to not be evil.
>and now every subsequent generation of humans has to live in suffering, and die in agony, and 99.999% of us will go to hell?
You don't have to. You can choose to receive salvation through Christ and see that there is a much bigger picture than just the bad things that happen here and now in the corrupt, fallen, physical, materialistic world we live in.
>but it's OK because WE chose to fall short of god's impossible standards
God is perfect, you are an imperfect sinner. Sin is rebellion and rejection of God, and the wage of sin is death. No man can ever be good enough and perfect enough on his own to be one with God forever. However, God in his infinite grace provides a way for us imperfect human sinners to receive salvation through Christ.
>but the good news is we can be saved if we eat the literal flesh and blood of a rabbi, who did literal magic
No, you are saved by repenting for your sins and accepting God's love and forgiveness. Different denominations have different understandings of communion and other Christian sacraments, but generally they are outward signs of inner grace. Participating in communion or other sacraments is not what saves you, you do it because you have been saved.
>surely you can see how that's not exactly compelling for a lot of people
Because you and they don't actually understand Christianity on even the most basic, fundamental level. God is offering you the greatest possible gift, with no debt or conditions or strings attached, and all you have to do is accept it.
Any person who reads the Bible, or even just the gospel of John, with a truly open mind and open heart will become a Christian.
