Metric is good for some things but not so much for others. Like cooking, you have a gram or a kilogram and nothing in between. Also pounds are smaller unit than kilos so you can be more exact without using decimals, or I guess commas in Europe. Also our temperature measurement is more exact too. I fucking hate imperial with tools though.

All of the decent houses are built with tile inside, stucco siding and tile roofing, which works pretty well to keep things cool on it's own. Almost every house in a decent suburb has a pool. I would never live in Phoenix because it's a shithole. Tucson is way better but only the outskirts. South Tucson is a warzone

I’ve worked on offshore oil platforms in Gulf of America with the Louisiana coast still in view, weeks strait of 100+ degree and humid as fuck with sun reflecting off of everything back onto you, and you honestly just get used to it to the point I didn’t even want to go into the AC areas until the workday was over. I’ve also worked in SE New Mexico in 100+ degree very arid desert in an engine room with two other massive engines running while the third was down for repair. With the engine heat it got 130 degrees in there during the day so I worked nights, and I’d take humid heat over that any day.

C° is beneficial for science.
F° is for the human condition.
0°F - 100°F is survivable for human beings.
Ive gone snowboarding in 0°F and hiking in 100°F.
Saying 50° is chilly, 70° is nice and 90° is hot makes more sense than "its going to be 23.7° in the morning but warm up to 32.5° by lunch".

I'm in Arizona not there it's actually a little hotter here. Lived in Texas for 25 years. Despite being 5 degrees warmer on average here, the weather is far nicer and more tolerable because its super fucking dry. You sweat I guess but it actually works and cools you off, unlike Texas where it just makes you wet and even more hot.

Not really. I have been to the South East. They whine and cry when it is 90 degrees outside. I walkaround like it is paradise. I did a job interview in Alabama once. The manager asked me if I was willing to relocate, and he told me the weather can get "hot", like that day. He thought I was full of shit, when I said I like the weather and it is wonderful.
I got on the airplane in 115 degree heat and went someone with 90 degree heat. I told him it would be late October before we had great weather like that, where I live.

F is superior to all other systems for humans because 1 degree F is the minimum temperature delta the average person can notice. Metric is arbitrarily based on physical properties. Fahrenheit is based on a person's ability to detect a change in temperature which is why it's superior for humans dealing with human stuff. Metric scale is better for hard science. /thread

SE Texas here. Right now it’s 95F with a heat index of 100F. Humidity is 52% because the entire state is under a high pressure. Not a breath of wind, no clouds, and hazy. Everyone I've ever met from Arizona hates it, but not because of the heat. Also you get used to temperatures. Especially if you're raised in them. I'm from the top of the Adirondack mountains and moved to the Ozarks. I'm losing a bit of my northern cold resistance but not much. However my kids who are all born in the south get cold right away, if I think its pretty warm outside. I had buddies from Tennessee and Texas come to a concert with me up north during october and they were freezing their dicks off. Thankfully in the actual sun you can consider me a lizard, so I dont mind it. I know this doesn't address OP but whatever I've made some kind of gay point.

The official temperature in Tempe AZ yesterday was 116 F.
Complete bullshit.
It's taken 40 foot off the ground in the shade.
When I got in my car my temp said 132, which is understandable from gathered heat while it sat.
I got on the freeway and it cooled off to 122.
Then I exited Price Road Westbound, and as I passed under the freeway it had climbed back to picrel.
The car is low miles with perfect maintenance.
There were meatwagons gathering dead junkies along Tempe Town lake. Those who had collapsed on asphalt or concrete smelled like a pig in the pit BBQ.

This is one of the hotter summers, getting up to 30 celcius for next week all over again here. I probably need to get back to exercising or cycling into work again, I work an office job and the motivation has never been lower, sweat to death in a little box office with no curtains for the windows, a flat roof, no A/C and barely any pay rises for almost a decade. It's miserable. The only tolerable thing left to do is change shirt at the end of the day, get into the car that has cooked in the sun and reads 40 celcius (usually 10+ celcius whatever the actual temperature is due to greenhouse effect).

I mean fuck summer, what's the purpose of it, I can't enjoy it properly by having a pool of water to swim in, or sit and chill out doing no work until it ends because the Mr.Shekelberg demands satisfaction for his cadre of elite bankers who want to stop me from saying what's on my mind.

You speak English and live like a White person on welfare. You only cling onto your dead culture at the surface level, for gibs. I'm not surprised that you are untraveled and don't know what we're talking about.

Dry heat = sweat evaporates, allowing your body to cool. As long as you have water you're fine. Wet heat = your sweat doesn't evaporate and you overheat quicker and your clothes become saturated and heavy, weakening you quicker. Both will kill you eventually, but you'd never have to worry about that, being an untraveled welfare recipient.

In a purely non-survival situation where water isn't an issue and it's about short-term comfort, dry heat is much more comfortable to deal with. That's what White people are referring to.

New Orleans here. It’s hot ans balls, but not as bad as Arizona. It’s a dry heat but 115 is 115.

Every house here has central a/c unless you’re exceedingly poor or renting and the landlord doesn’t give a fuck. Because of this, there are a shitload of a/c repair places. And the techs all know what they’re doing because they get a lot of experience. If you have a service contract they usually have a 24h response or something (most show up the same day, giving preferential treatment to existing customers).

If you’re smart, you’ll have at lease one window unit or a portable room a/c as well as a generator (whole house is obviously the way to go). A/C goes out and they have to wait for a part or something? Move your bed into the room with the window unit or bust out the room portable and put some sheets over the doors.

every single leftist here in CA is some transplant faggot from you flyover states, so don't bitch and whine that all your leftist faggots are coming back home

P.S. and good riddance your trash is leaving, california is going back to it's natural red now that the flyover fags have been leaving to go back home in the last few years
