If the party loses the support of the people, they lose the mandate of heaven and will be overthrown. So the people are in charge, because the people want the CCP in power. I've lived in China, they laugh at the concept of having a democracy and think the west is insane. The US is melting down internally because half the population has an absolute seething hatred for the other half. Why would they want that?
