For some reason Japan was dealing with Soviets during the mid 80s, something about Toshiba leaking nuclear submarine parts. Someone saw the crash coming and tried to cash out early. Australia's embassy sold at the top btw, there was definitely some insider trading going on during the bubble era. The US kept begging Japan to remilitarize and they refuse to edit the constitution, so it was put on life support via treasury bonds then turned into a welfare state. Realistically there's no debt to pay, the US just gives Japan food and oil for pretty much free, everything is dirt cheap there. They're going to keep draining the countryside and filtering people into the cities and the US is going to fund anti-immigration groups to keep out chinks, jeets, and Russians. I think it's pretty clear India is aligned with Russia now and the US successfully made everyone hate jeets in such a short period of time. Not even Pakistanis, specifically Indians. The population density will keep contracting, Japan's economy isn't real, the US gives them unlimited credit just for hosting bases. The worst that could happen is that the rural prices drop so low that boomers and trust fund weebs start filling out the countryside, but I doubt that would happen because they all want to gawk at Japanese people like it's an open air petting zoo.
