If it's not structural, what's the problem, using engineered wood products for non supportive building to save on costs without sacrificing the integrity of the construction is fine, or would you say the same of cinder blocks over lets say carved natural stone, sure large chunks of solid rock would be stronger than cement blocks but does it really matter if it's getting a facade or floor over it.

this is a typical census check to gauge euro to US/central america engagement, every time you see this type of "US build house of wood" thread know that is bait.

Because you've been jewed for so long you forgot that some things actually are good. Wood is a gift from God. It's strong enough to support thousands of ponds but also light weight and easy enough to work with it can be shaped by hand or with simple tools. It's cheap because it literally grows on tree. You take that material and throw in German engineering and you get one of the greatest building materials of all times.

But of course this is just another slide thread meant to talk down the accomplishments of Germans so what do I know.

It outgasses. For years. Releasing a variety of toxic gases such as Formaldehyde. You can seal it with coating that in turn produce their own raft of toxins into the air.
If the house is VERY well ventilated you are probably okay and it may be then safe to live in closed after about twenty years or so.
TLDR. Its not safe. But natural building materials are now so expensive few people have a choice.

In the mutts defence, OSB (aka particle board) isn't necessarily too bad structurally if the glue is waterproof. The problem lies in the fact that none of it is, and at best it's "water resistant" which means nothing in the big scheme of things. A lot of builders here use similar in floor joists (called high span beams) the problem lies in the fact they frame the houses on usually green concrete then leave the pine and OSB frame exposed to the weather for fuck knows how long until it's roofed and clad. I'm a welder by trade and have worked on some of these houses, some worth millions of dollars and the construction standards are absolutely utter fucking dog shit. If I was to build a house, I'd use steel frame which considering the price of timber nowadays isn't much more expensive and will last generations.

All we had to do is drill a few holes and pull some cables trough.
pluming must have been a bit harder because the pipes are bigger, but they also just punched holes in the walls and floors to get them trough.
the great thing about using good materials from the start is that it is easy to work with later on when you do modifications.

Tats not plywood, plywood is layers of timber glued together thats osb board. OSB3 may be stronger than MDF and handle more weight without sagging. OSB3 is more resistant to moisture damage than MDF. However, it is not as strong as MDF when it comes to screws and nails.SB (Oriented Strand Board) and plywood are both construction materials with distinct advantages and disadvantages. OSB is generally more affordable and can be more moisture-resistant than plywood, particularly in high-humidity environments. Plywood, on the other hand, is often favored for its aesthetic appeal, greater strength and rigidity, and better performance in high-moisture situations.

What do they use in Britain and wherever else in Europe for floors and walls?

You're coping hard, anon. Half of your country is a arid area. And even the place that aren't, you can still build down with proper infra, I mean, even the dutch have basements, sure not all dutch's have a basement but some do.
They don't do it because it's too muck work, but because it's expensive.
Don't tell me that your rain-fall is the equivalent of sea-water infiltration, that is just not real.
I doubt your claims.

no the stuff in OP is oriented strand board. chipboard aka particle board is a lot closer to sawdust glued together. and plywood is as you said, layers sandwiched which is quite strong. i use the fuck out of laminated lumber which is stronger than any normal wooden beams

In Britain it's usually a cavity wall and floorboards. The floorboards can be chipboard because it's easy enough to lift a carpet and slap new ones down, the increased span and low cost makes up for the shittier material not lasting. Softwood is going to be squeaky in no time, if you're going for real wood it'll be hardwood and you're paying through he nose for it.
As for Europe it depends on climate. You're not going to see the same shitty stucco-box regardless, like you do in the western US. Holy shit when the Spaniards are building better houses you know you're in trouble.

chipboard is not structural, it's the type of shit ikea furniture is made of, that you can easily punch your fist through, or melt with a single cup of water
OSB is not chipboard, it's a considerably stronger structural wood than regular wood or plywood of the same dimensions

It's funny how eurofags diss on burgers because of engineered timber construction materials, when it's eurofags who are pushing that stuff to the limits with highrises and such and made out of them.

Memeflag eurocuck is seething that his 300 year old shitbox doesn't have air conditioning.

Many such cases during the summer, thankfully they die off pretty quickly.
