Its because everyone's economies are tied to GDP calculations and the subsequent borrowing based off that metric. The fastest way to boost this is to add new workers because each pop is worth X GDP. Obviously the real world doesn't work this way so countries are just getting into debt cycles where the only way out is to borrow more, import more and spend more on the hope that they hit the jackpot of growth.

With AI and robotics, by far the best strat is to have FEWER kids, China’s strat makes total sense. This counteracts the job decrease that is happening on all fronts. There is a reason countries with high birth rates are extremely poor. Even those with high immigration and above 2.0 birth rates are totally fucked like France.

China’s bigger problem is their gender ratio. War with millions of chink deaths is a humiliating favor for them. 700 million deaths is a guarantee that they have plenty of body to win the war (say, against US at Taiwan)

If you think of depopulation as necessity, there is one region that MUST be depopulated by death, higher priority than china+east Asia: south asia. india (including bangladesh & pakistan) is absolutely the worst: smaller and even more crowded than china

It's perfectly fine for population to fluctuate. Prevents overpopulation. That's no reason to commit cultural and ethnic suicide by importing other peoples. If they want to raise the birth rate, they just need to dial back women's rights. Prevent them from being able to work, have bank accounts, rent on their own, etc. They definitely shouldn't be voting holy shit that's retarded.
