Ive been living here in vegas on and off since 2010. There's many factors but I think one of the huge ones is cultural... Back when I grew up on the east you couldn't buy alcohol on Sunday, no tattoo parlours in the entire state, no legal sports betting, and so on... Down south and utah it's even more strict... But in Vegas you could do all of that in a time when it was taboo hence the name sin city... But now all of that is legal and normalized so there's no reason to go to Vegas... The place I grew up has all that AND weed dispensaries with an ocean and mostly white people so it's like why the fuck would someone leave home to do all the same shit except blazing hot everything has a weird scam or hidden fees attached and full of screaming multi ethnic crowds? The only good reason for a tourist to come to Vegas these days is for a specific concert/event/work conference. it's super crowded way too built up and barely as affordable as it used to be nowadays too.... The whole appeal of it back in the day was the no income tax and spending 800 on a apt that would be 3000 anywhere else but now the prices are catching up to california fast.... They say much of the remaining film industry is moving here too so a long with 2 California sports teams that just moved in and all the new residents being expats from LA It's basically becoming Los Angeles 2.0 with no ocean.
