People get caught when they get too greedy counting, if you come in with $2k and are up to $7500 in 25 minutes, they're going to fucking know. The funny part is that they are legally obliged to both let you play a running game to the end (eg. blackjack) and pay you out afterwards without providing any sort of identification (unless your wins exceed a certain sum). Majy Casinos are insanely hostile if you win too much tho and will unlawfully refuse to cash you out and even end the current hand. This is why any serious person playing for profit, like a card counting team should run a hidden camera at all times. Casinos are criminals with thug security and often violate your rights.

Single and double deck games are pretty common at Indian casinos. it attracts players. They know who is counting and who isn't... its all computerized. The chips and the cards have rfid chips in them. They know how much you bet and what the exact count is when you make that bet. They only kick you out if you successfully have an edge on them on the mid to high roller tables. For the 10 dollar tables or whatever they will let you count all day. The problem with this of course is that with only at 2-3% edge and you count perfect you have to play 8 hours a day to make like 70 grand a year. I decided early on in my blackjack career that it wasn't worth it... it would be easier to get a masters degree in finance and make 70K a year sitting at a desk.

You can get an edge if you can count effectively. The edge is only a little bit smaller than the 3:2 game. Its just not what people think it is. Its possible to count perfectly and still be unlucky. You could lose for a week straight and like 15-20% of your bankroll. But if you keep playing eventually it will even out and then you get like 3% profits. Its really hard fucking work.. so even if they let you do it its harder work then a real job.

The MIT blackjack team was different because they used spotters. They would bet the minimum and signal the big player to come in when the count is high. This type of strategy will totally destroy the casino and they will most certainly figure out what you are doing if you try that.

Counting cards in Blackjack has incredibly low margins. Basically it just inverts the house margin.
Instead of the house making 2%, you make 2%.

You're not going to ever make this with low Blackjack margins unless:
1. You get really lucky - in which case no they're not going to know you're counting cards. Lucky customers are happy customers. They need happy customers to get them addicted to gambling so they can milk them later.
2. You hit a jackpot bonus in some casinos. You can definitely improve the odds of this by counting cards, but its unlikely a single or double deck casino would even do this. Also indistinguishable from pure luck.

I used to count cards back in the single and double deck days. You could even find single deck games off strip but they always messed with the payouts. If you tipped well and weren't a dick about it they would tolerate you. I got banned from an Indian casino in a certain state after a while but so many people do it in Nevada I never had a huge problem. Just don't be a dick about it and TIP WELL. I don't care for gambling, but I went to Vegas once. I played a slot machine, one bet, and won like 112 dollars. I left the slot machine. I plated some spinny wheel thing with a Japanese lady and we were winning until a guy came over and stuck some key in it, I guess to reset it, and I lost twice in a row so I left. I played a few other games but it was kinda boring, so I quit. I did play another slot machine at the airport because it was in a smokers tent and I hit for over 200. I think I walked away with around 500 all told.
I also went to the horse racing track, in my home state, and won like 50 bucks, and never went back. I don't get the thrill of gambling. If I win I want to keep it. I only did it for the experience of it anyway.
