That's almost certainly not true. The lack of the African slave trade would completely recontextualize the 21st century (and the late 20th century). The civil rights movement would probably have either not happened at all or else been for women or the Irish or some shit.
While the American civil war was not fought primarily because of slavery, the industry produced by slaves was a large part of the southern states' economy and not having that would have certainly adjusted the dynamics between the Confederates and the north. Given how impactful the civil war was to the foundation of the USA (which in turn became a global hegemony post WW2) it's ridiculous to imagine that such an enormous change as removing an entire population that has interacted with meaningful cultures over the course of thousands of years would not have had a huge difference on humanity.
