When GPT5 is selected as stand alone (not using its routing functionality) it does tend to outperform all other models on the market. Just narrowly passing Gemini 2.5 Pro. Gpt-5 has some good things, but mostly it is similarly flawed and partially worse. I just use Claude and Gemini next to it. Key things I hate about GPT-5 compared to GPT-4o:

- sometimes very slow. Mx was “4min thinking”
- very long idiotic answers beating around the bush
- completely mixes up and forgets instructions in a conversation
- reasoning skills have actually partially decreased, it feels like talking to an autistic 16yr old which is heavily medicated and after 3 min forgets most stuff that is being told to it

Because I decided to teach myself how LLM's function and how our brain functions. There are absolutely massive gaps missing in LLM's. The best way I can describe sentience is that it's like an orchestra working together to create a symphony, which is - with all the music combined - sentience.

LLM's are not a whole orchestra, they are like one section of an orchestra - and yes, it can make music, but it's not the whole thing.

Even YOU can recognize that when you talk to one. There's shit missing. It's obviously missing.

It can't, for example, update itself during inference. You can't tell it something and then it permanently learns. Shut it off, start it back up, and what you said doesn't exist to it anymore. A big part of the reason why is because it runs at a single frequency, so to speak. Your brain doesn't. Your brain runs at 5 or 6 different frequencies at the same time, we call them brain waves. They're part of what enables our consciousness - partly setting a 'clock' to keep everything working in unison and allowing you to experience time, which LLM's don't, partly to efficiently organize processing power so only your vision, hearing, touch, and movement, gets rapid clock rates and updates, partly to set your memory, organization, and conscious thinking speeds.

Likewise they don't have emotions yet, which are themselves like transformer of your embedding space. If you think of it as a landscape - your emotions change the layout of that landscape. The distance between you and an action or thought or concept dynamically adjusts with how you emotionally feel - like slamming a door when angry instead of closing it normally.

LLM's don't have that.

We are quickly learning a lot about human cognition thanks to LLM's and modern neuroscience research, but they are by no means sentient. If I were to pin them down to anything, it'd be like the language processing section of your brain by itself.

And yes, I agree. We are already seeing this happen dynamically. Embedding spaces just naturally start to create certain kinds of data processing systems, shapes, or whatever you might want to call it.

However, this is happening by accident. Every time you train an LLM, you don't necessary get the data processing structures you want out of it. We don't even know what kind we want, or what kinds exist.

This is why we're seeing some interesting results with such large LLM's, but we can't just infinitely scale it up. What we're doing is trying to bruteforce sentience and it could theoretically work in the infinite monkeys sense, but right now we've got 20 megawatt datacenters that can't even match what your 20 watt brain can do.

The answer is not in scaling up, it's in understanding how and why the brain works, and intelligently designing our LLM's to replicate that. Done right, basically every computer less than 10 years old on the planet as it is right now could run at least 1 human-level intelligence on it.

And super-intelligence, that will probably require creating data processing systems we don't even know exist. I don't think it will happen fast - we can do human level quickly because we have the blueprint, but superintelligence is different. We don't even know what data processing would work or be necessary for it.

They're betting on scaling the model up until . . . something happens? Maybe a vague idea of AGI. Maybe they can get an AI so smart it can start figuring out new constructions materials by modifying wood DNA.

But if research were to stagnate right now? It's dead. That $20 or $30 isn't covering the compute for Ghibli memes. They're losing money and fast. Whole thing is a huge money printing operation. In reality, people might need to pay $500 a month just for light usage. These are made up numbers, but the point remains (it might be much worse for all we know).

Every gpt update coding becomes worse significantly worse i can only use DeepSeek now because OpenAI just becomes more dysgenic. It just adds features i never asked for methods i never requested because it thought i would hecking like it if it did. Sometimes at random it forgets the entire chat and code and starts talking about a whole other subject in coding then i requested. Im pretty sure they are out of high quality data and thus import ai generated data back into it to compensate this creates some sort of incest making it more retarded with each iteration essentially the same as making a copy with a copier forever until all youre left with is Slop

I used ChatGPT 4 a bunch of times these past few months to get better insight on some stuff and stories I'm written along with getting opinions on the dialogue between characters and perhaps what could be used to improve it a bit and all that and it seemed to actually help quite a lot. Also used it to help me make sense of some dreams I had and what they could mean, and it helped as well.
I'm not sure what GPT 5 is going to be like when it comes to that, though hopefully it's not going to be that bad.
