That's what paganism is - superstition. Why do white nationalists fall for this bronze age superstition we see in the religion of the Aesir gods? This kind of paganism is just Oogahboogah brainrot substituting for science. Without a knowledge of natural causes and effects, primitive peoples anthropomorphized the forces of nature. So if you want favourable winds for sailing, you propitiate the wind god. Or if you want a bountiful crop, you propitiate the fertility deity. Etc.

Christianity on the other hand is couched in reason and wisdom. Christianity works in harmony with the natural sciences. The natural world is intelligible and rule-bound because it is the creation of an omniscient, omnipotent architect who transcends the universe and even time and space.
