Why do people act like your 20s are supposed to be some wild time full of fun, partying, and living free? What is the actual logic behind people who think like this, because I’ve never really had any desire for it. Where did this mentality come from because most people didn't spend their 20s drinking and hooking up with people and its weirder that its now become some sort of litmus test or trial for whether a person is "normal".

I spent the first half of my 20's in my underpants in my mum's house, right here on /pol/.

I spent the middle part of my twenties living out of a hostel.

I spent the latter part of my twenties in my underpants, in my council flat, right here on /pol/.

I am now 33, I have never had a job, or a girlfriend, I still have my hair and my teeth, and I have 0 crows feet, I am on state welfare, and legally classified as "Mentally ill" due to historical behavioural problems (I was extremely violent as a child and teenager) which have long since abated.

I went to a club about three times during my twenties, each time at the behest of some acquaintance or another.

What I learned is; the drinks are overpriced, nobody there seems to actually be having fun, the conversation is sub-par, and I kept getting swarmed by soulless cock-hungry twinks, which would be great if I was a woofter, but I am very much not.

Also, the music is mostly shite.

About to hit 30 this year, I’d say my life is much better now and more exciting when I was in my early 20s. Not banging sluts weekly or having multiple partners like I did in my early 20s but hey I got no complaints.

Pros of being 20:

That meme of "enjoying your 20s" and deferring important things like marriage and starting a family first was first told to baby boomers. But there was a constant stream of propaganda for generations coming of age in the 80s and 90s as well which doubled down on it. So then you had: parental "advice" which was really just parents parroting the TV to their children. The children also see the TV telling them the same thing. So that's why it's been a thing. Ultimately it lowers the birthrate, increases the divorce rate and so on.

There are many things you can fuck up in your 20s, which include making dumb financial decisions or deciding to do things like start a company and fail. Or invest your income into risky investments. And essentially end up broke and back where you started. But this doesn't apply for women and marriage. As they age they obviously lose value. So marriage is something they should be prioritising. With me n it's not as "severe". You can find yourself a wife in your 30s and things will be fine. Your risks are not bothering at all for long period (to not develop any social skills). Or the other end, where you fuck lots of women and could end up with STIs (for life) which can fuck things up for your future life.
