Azov Battalion in Ukraine
Why does the Azov Battalion fight for Ukraine when the president is a Jewish man? I came of age in the 2010s and this never made sense to me. Russia (according to libtards) was supposed to be the future of far right politics fuelled by Putinโs militarist imagery and revanchist ideology. Orthodox Christianity was all the rage at the time (2016 - 2018), there was a staunchly pro-Russian presence on /pol/, Frog Twitter largely had favorable things to say about Putin, and the Russians were supposed to have been hacking elections and living in a pseudo-fascist state. Keep in mind this was five or six years before the invasion. Dugin was held up as this evil genius figure architecting the downfall of American hegemony.
Now all I see (especially from Frog Twitter) is that Russia promotes third worldist narratives, fights alongside Chechens, North Koreans, and other assorted foreigners, and is basically just as liberal as America.
I get that Ukraine is fine using these guys as meat shields, but if their goal is to usurp state power via a military coup (which seems to be the only reasonable explanation), why does the government tolerate them?
