Tariffs worth it?
Apparently the tariffs generated around 30 billion by now.
Do you think that it will make up for the decline to the US tourism industry?

Looks to me like the lost tourist dollars should be negligable compared to the tariffs. Tariffs should be a huge boost to the government funds. But apparently the lack of tourist money and side effects (downsizing hotel staff, airlines shutting down US travel etc.) are so severe that they almost cut the tariff gains in half.

How does Trump fix this? Any plans?

bluecollar-tard here, tariffs are fucking up the country breddy bad. i dont know the exact numbers since im low-level, but i know at my company and surrounding companies/industries theres been red-alerts from corporate pretty much everywhere, like we got a rare letter straight from the ceo that was basically saying we're in "emergency mode". basically america creates to export, our raw materials capabilities just arent up to par to actually self-sustain, if you look at industry-specific news especially closer in the chain to raw materials, the damage is actually pretty bad. raw materials prices skyrocketed ridiculously, less customers to send off inventory so it just piles up (ALL the factories my friends work at have the same exact problem) and our output is immediately capped because of significantly less materials. im assuming all the fortune500 companies have a bunch of levers they can pull to mitigate the damage, thats why consumer/food prices are mostly okay even if "noticeably expensive". theres significantly less imports at the customs or whatever (dk the name), in general anyone working in these areas notices that shits fucked up.

again im just average bluecollar so i dont know the specifics but yeah trump fucked everything up. if i didnt mention it already, it seems its mainly in the raw materials and logistics side. i dont what causes logistics backups at literally every factory i know but its there. NONE of this shit is reported in the news which is kinda mind boggling. im sure smarter economics anons can fill in the gaps.

It did not "generate" 30 billion, it took 30 billion from the murrican economy.

Just wait for the moment all these companies decide to increase prices to compensate the costs. Murrican economy will implode.

part of the burden of tariffs is paid by foreign exporters lowering their prices to stay competitive
also foreign countries inflating their currencies to preserve manufacturing jobs
so not all 30 billions came from americans, some uncertain portion came from foreigners, which is why tariffs are a better form of tax than income tax, which is paid solely by us citizens

That's almost as much as we give Israel every year for the last 30 years.

it's possible if they reinvested the money in helping Americans
but instead they're spending it on more money for bombs and Israel and ICE while the programs that help Americans get cut
