In 1971, Hollywood studios intentionally canceled TV shows and stopped producing movies that depicted rural and small-town people in a positive light, instead portraying them as backward and dangerous. The film "Deliverance" was released the following year. Around this time, fathers began to be portrayed as incompetent fools, often disrespected and humiliated by their clever wives and rebellious children. Behaviours such as divorce, alcohol abuse, and promiscuity also became normalized during this period.

Little House on the Prairie is a boring show. Rural people are backwards and dangerous. Men are stupid bumbling oafs. I don't see the problem.

Meanwhile teen pregnancy rates have fallen dramatically since the 1990s, alcohol usage peaked AND bottomed out in the '80s, and divorce rates have fallen to their lowest levels in fifty years, so you haven't identified any relevant trends.

It was when White Flight was starting to take hold. What good is pandering to inner city blacks? The most popular shows in the 80s were set in the suburbs, which is where the whites had already moved. CBS wasn't getting ahead of anything, they were jumping into a dead trend.

TV ate Hollywood's lunch because people were tired of watching goyslop. The entire town went into a recession and even the Hollywood sign went unmaintained for years. Jews had to scramble to get control of it with measures like in OP's pic.
