As someone who's visited both in the last 12 months, Thailand is much cleaner and more functional than India. There's a massive gap. I only live in the city but places like Hua Hin and Koh Pangan/Koh Tao are always nice. Phuket is full of Russians and probably Israelis now. Look for rural niche cafes, they're all over the country and have really fun themes and gimmicks like buffalo ranches and curated gardens.
