NVIDIA Promises No Back Doors or Kill Switches in GPU's -- China Should Trust USA Tech
This is why China's strategic goal is tech sovereignty for the whole stack (hardware, OS, and software).
We already have examples like the Nintendo Switch 2 which monitors users, backdoors, and a kill switch to brick your Switch. Plenty of bricking incidents including used games. Even more troubling is that you don't own the console according to the EULA. So, does Nvidia have backdoors? Whatever China found was alarming enough to demand a meeting with Jensen Huang.

Nvidia's CEO said no backdoors and refused to present documentation. But previously, the director of White House of Sc and Tech Policy revealed to Reuters: We are embedding location tracking technology into AI chips.
This practice obbey the Chip Security Act, of May.
So... no backdoors?

Probably the only reason why the US gov allows the continuous sale of lower end Nvidia GPUs to china is if there is a backdoor off switch.

All chips on Earth have back doors unless those chips are made and utilized in-house.

US tech hardware have always had backdoors for the NSA. Researchers frequently found backdoors in Cisco networking hardware during Web 1.0 and the NSA even got Juniper Networks at the root kernel level. There’s leaked NSA slides discussing NSA hardware Tailored Access Operation.
