Was just about to comment this. i was here browsing /pol/ on one of my 3 monitors when the 'DO NOT ANSWER' posters started lighting up the board with one of their usual freakouts, except this time it was legit, they posted a link to a live reshare of the radio broadcasts on four different streams on a page, right from takeoff, got to listen to the entire hour+ interaction and post with all the other epic lurkers.

That day the 'DO NOT ANSWER' were fucking kings and every old casual /pol/ nigger listened and awaited their input. Countless pilot anons chimed in, then after the whole ordeal there were so many fucking threads honoring him with talk about him being the new face of /pol/ to all kinds of emblems and flags that would do him justice. There were so many flags and emblems made trying to depict the orcas and him, but i think over the first 3 days the most popular was a 'don't tread on me' flag with him performing his barrel roll.

Definitely loved the fighter pilot commentary, we all lost our shit when those boys pulled up on him, we thought we were gonna get a mega giga hyper happening with a fighter pilot shooting down an American, and Sky King wasn't even black.

That flight wasn’t terrorism. The FBI ruled it a suicide, not an ideological act. He was alone. No plan. No co-conspirators. Just a broken man taking the sky for one final truth. 

He steered himself toward solitude, and for a few minutes, he made peace with the world—or at least, with the sky. People turned his final flight into myth. Reddit calls him a folk hero. “Fly high, Sky King,” they say. And you know what? That’s not because we glorify what he did, but because deep down, maybe we understand the desperate need to feel ungrounded again, even for a moment of pure freedom. 

So here’s to Richard Russell: a man trapped on the ground, who finally took flight—on his terms. May you rest among the clouds you chased. Rest in flight, Sky King.
