>Hello dear retard, we are shutting down your PC soon. Now is the time to stop being such a broke loser. Sincerely, fuck you.

Is there a breaking point, where people will just start setting things on fire? Or can they be squeezed and squeezed until everything you earn gets instantly sucked into subscriptions, insurance, rent, utilities and groceries and we're all just modern serfs.

I'm still curious if Microsoft is going to play the game of chicken to the last second and chicken out. 50% of deskops and laptops are still on 10. Microsoft is losing this game of chicken right now. They probably expected that number to be down to like 10% by now. If they pull the plug on security to that many computers they are inviting trouble to their livelihoods.

Linux fucking blows. It's "easy" if all you want to do is open the browser. I'll consider trying it again, but the first time was a terrible experience. It really is a POS operating system, and only 1% of the users actually know how to use the syntax in the terminal on the fly, everyone else has to copy pasta. I can't believe there isn't a distro as intuitive as windows fucking 95 yet, it's actually pathetic.

you state that so definitively that it sincerely makes me question your intelligence and general computing ability. i do understand though that it is a bragging right to "not be no dis" with computers and nerdy shit these days.

linux is much much much easier than even windows was back in the day. it's so fucking easy it's insane. you install the OS exactly like windows is installed, and then can exclusively click buttons on the desktop if you want to. the terminal is 100% optional and mostly used for things like getting upstream drivers (wherein you can copy/paste with ease).
copy/paste that in your command terminal and hit up and return every time you open the terminal. or just use the gui updater.

I'm not him, but I have two computers. One from 2012, the other from 2013. The 2012 computer does everything I need except gaming. The 2013 computer is perfectly adequate in 2025 even for 1080p gaming. If I want to play a game, I can run modern stuff on high/medium settings at 1080p (1080p is still fine btw).
It's not the old days anymore. Computers can last a long time now.
Funny story, I made a windows 11 VM that runs on my ancient 2012 small form desktop natively running windows 10. I bypassed the tpm and microsoft account requirements. This was about a year ago. Runs just fine, and that is on a VM. Proof of concept that their hardware requirements are BS.

the modern tech is perfect for the older software.
the newer software is perfect for the future tech.

they release everything in the wrong order.

windows XP was perfect for the hardware that came out for windows 7/8
windows 7 was perfect for the current hardware
windows 10/11 is perfect for whatever they release in 10 years.

remember anons, they are able to design how things work, but they're too stupid to understand how they will be used.

>terminal is 100% optional

This is either a lie, or you only use your browser and haven't had to troubleshoot.
The terminal is 100% necessary to fix anything, and my experience using linux was needing to hold it's hand and fix fucking EVERYTHING all the time. The terminal is shit in that it you MUST either use memory recall OR copy paste, this is what makes it unintuitive.

I grew up with DOS by the way. I can learn syntax. But gui won for a reason. Linux needs to be at least as intuitive as the 30 year old windows 95. Right now it's not.

I've already switched to linux mint, got my printer and scanner to work on it. It was much easier with Grok and GPT's help although they can't always help 100% of the time. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup.
Right-click Setup, select New > Key, name it LabConfig.
In LabConfig, create a DWORD com mand (32-bit) value named BypassTPMCheck, set its value to 1.
Optionally, add BypassSecureBootCheck, BypassRAMCheck, and BypassStorageCheck with value 1 to bypass other requirements.

For those tempted to move to Linux, let me warn you this is a terrible idea. If you have private files and do the online banking, Linux is completely unsafe for you.
Microsoft is a trillion dollars corporation which means they hire the absolutely best security experts to protect your precious data. Linux is an open source project made by volunteers who may have a malicious intention. There have been many cases a Linux volunteer puts in malicious code to steal the private users data.
So it might feel like such a headache to upgrade to Windows 11 but I assure you it is totally worth it, think of it like a free level up for your PC. Your PC takes care of you so you should invest in taking care of it too.

Yeah, I know. I wasn't worried about that when I switched, so far every game, be it old or new works fine. My main worry was that my cheaper hardware, such as mouse, keyboard and headset would have a problem working. Mouse and headset didn't, but keyboard on linux for some reason treats ctrl, alt and shift as the same key so I had to swap to an older keyboard which didn't had this problem.

Linux is massively unsecure but it's generally not targeted by malware since it has a smaller userbase. If it suddenly started getting targeted it's massive vulnerabilities would get exploited. People on linux are "safe" because they aren't even being targeted in the first place. But if they do get targeted they're fucked.

An optional addition that can be activated if you want to. It could be like a much simpler Windows 98 or something. MAC had some pretty simple UI layouts. Just let people click on what they need to. Not everyone fell for "learn to code" or wanted to, and it is kinda shitty because it gatekeeps linux

You'd understand if you knew how insufferable and autistic the linux community has been for the last 30 years as the world moved on.
Human beings are a hands on species. We do not think in code. Even in the DOS days there were countless competing gui programs that would run on top of DOS (norton commander, geoworks, windows 1, 2, 3, 3.1, etc etc) that made DOS a hands on experience to make it more human compatible. Hell Xerox made the Alto in the early 70s that had a gui with mouse, but it was too far ahead and never had a consumer release unfortunately, if it had we would have a very different history in computing.

what did you need to troubleshoot? shit just werks in my experience. I run debian bare metal on an epyc and have 3 virts with PCI passthrough, and multiple USB passthroughs. I use a combination of physical and virtual monitors and kvm switchers. I even have a few windows virts I can spin up to do an occasional windows specific task. I tell you all this because it's significantly more involved than installing mint or dual booting and it took all of 2 hours to setup and the occasional sudo apt update/upgrade on the base OS. you should really just try it sometime.

Linux is pozzed with the same Mossad spyware and globotranny nonsense like trying to put Rust in everything.

Despite all the progress made to get Linux to "just work," we're back to 2 decades ago where you have to set up Linux from scratch (gutting the fuck out of it) to make your shit work without all the pozz, or run something like a hardened BSD in which your only options are a web browser and a third-rate open-source office suite.

>skill issue bro, get good, etc.
Some of us would rather spend our weekend hiking or recording music rather than trying to get one of the many dysfunctional audio systems to Just Work in Linux or BSD.

Tried it, GRUB fucked my whole install during what should have been a routine, guided GUI process. When something is shilled as hard as Mint is, you know it has Jewish hands wrapped around it. Use Ubuntu MATE if you want something you know is pozzed but just works.

Linux assumes you know everything about how it works to be able to use it. Apple macOS, on the other hand, assumes you know nothing about how it works to be able to use it. Which one has a higher usage rate? By the way, as you know, the Apple macOS is built on top of Linux, but it’s all hidden from the user behind a superstructure, which makes it easy for the user to actually just use a computer without any trauma or drama while still operating on a much more stable OS than Windows.

New HURD just dropped
https://www.debian.org/ports/hurd/hurd-news

Debian GNU/Hurd is currently available for the i386 and amd64 architectures with about 72% of the Debian archive, and more to come!

64bit support is now complete, with the same archive coverage as i386 (actually a bit more since some packages are 64b-only)
This 64b support is completely using userland disk drivers from NetBSD thanks to the Rump layer.
We now use xattr by default for recording translators, allowing to bootstrap seamlessly from other OSes, with mmdebstrap for instance
Rust was ported to GNU/Hurd.
Support for USB disk and CD-ROM was added through Rump
Packages are now available for SMP support, which is quite working
The console is now using xkb for keyboard layouts, and supports multiboot-provided framebuffer
Various other support were added (acpi, rtc, apic, hpet, ...)
Some documentation improvement was achieved
Various fixes have been included (irqs, nfsv3, libports, pipes corner cases, ...)

That was the only thing holding me back all these years, I do want to play my games when I get home from wage slavery. Once Windows 10 support ends I'll be installing Bazzite on my main PC and I'll probably never go back.
The anti-cheat situation is a problem for a lot of gaymes, but it doesn't affect any of the games I play. I'm not interested in fucking Valorant or Apex Legends. Thousands of people ran malware from a beamng mod (American Road) back in April that stole credentials. The mod was available from the actual game repository, as in you boot the game from steam, then update or download the mod WITHIN the game (not having to go online) and BOOM, credentials stolen.

This is just one example. Now imagine a better world where the person who did this was tracked down and justice was served. People making malware are flesh and blood people but they always get away with it.

I’ve been a Linux sysadmin since the 90s. While Linux has gotten ‘easier’ to use as time goes on, 90% of people are not going to be able to deal with it when they hit their first hurdle. Imagine telling some non IT person that the reason their program isn’t working is because selinux is blocking file access, or trying to explain to them that they need to chmod or chown a file to be able to open it. Heaven forbid they want to install an app that is not native to the distro and doesn’t have a deb or rpm package, Good luck getting them to understand “./configure && make && make install” on the source code. Or telling them to use dmesg and the logs to figure out why their usb device isn’t usable.

Look Linux is 100% superior to every other OS out there but you need to have an above average IQ to use it. And even then the developers I support and still absolute Linux retards.
