You don't have to go over the road (OTR). There are tons of high paying local jobs like fuel hauling (usually around $35-$40 hr), LTL pick up and delivery OR linehaul. XPO's top pay is currently $35.89 hr. Their night linehaul guys make around $120k a year. Other LTL companies include Saia, Old Dominion, Estes, Fedex freight, T-force, R&L, ABF, UPS, Penninsula Truck lines. Some of these are union which means you'll get a pension.
You can also do regional work where you go out for 5 days or so then go home for 2-3 days. Walmart is a regional gig and they start their new drivers at around $110k a year. All drop and hook, you don't have to touch freight at all.

I haul asphalt, and when were not paving I haul sand and gravel back to the plant. The hours can suck sometimes, and it includes night shift. However, I'm usually laid off by the second week of December and don't return till April 1st. I'll also add that I'm a Teamster, so we have our benefits paid year round and a pension. Make about 60k a year doing this, plus whatever I collect on unemployment.

Trucking is shit. Pays garbage with few exceptions and it takes a lot of start up capital to get a class 8 rig. If you want to drive for a living, go into hotshotting.

Far better option is nursing or allied health. Two years of college doing a rad tech degree followed by either CT/MRI or interventional/OR rad experience. I make $35/hr as a traveling rad tech.

A few years ago in Canada they raised the price of a Class 1 CDL to $15k, all schools no exceptions. 15k to get into an industry destroyed by Indians. Most drivers do not make 100k per year here. I drive a 5-ton and clear 95k per year. No thanks, way too much fucking money for a shit license.

Im posting this from my semi truck rn, im OTR company driver, 2.5 years experience and currently running 600 miles a day. My paychecks are 2k take home a week and i have a huge dorm size fridge and air fryer in my truck. I shop at costcos, stock up, eat 1 meal a day and it is a NUTRIENT dense meal. This job is amazing as long as you can deal with the solitude. I work from april to january then take the winter off and reapply to a new company. During winter i blast Test, Tren, and HGH and get juicy and fuck bitches.

Once winter hits this year i think ima move from central Cali to Astoria Oregon and get a local CDL job and just continue to blast steroids, gym, read, and find a cute finnish wife there.

I drive a straight truck local. M-F, weekends off and I never leave the state. I only made 65k last year but I get 401k, paid vacation, insurance, and freebies.

I could make more driving a big rig otr but it’s really nice having a life, cooking, sleeping in my own bed and showering in my own bathroom.

Driving is a great career, I took a 10k pay cut for this job and it was the best thing I ever did.

Also, fuck pajeets, Somalis are the worst drivers period.
