I mean.... alcohol is just that, a chemical compound. Imagine paying more for a certain compound if it is aged in a barrel. Vodka or other clear spirits do the same job at a fraction of the price.
Plus a lot of fellow zoom zooms simply do not drink on account of it being unhealthy.

Sorry Kentuckyanon but your state will have to learn not to be overly dependent on a single industry. (says the German who will lose his job at BMW)

Because it's disgusting. I've tried multiple times with Bulleit, Bookers, Michters, Stagg. I've had a bunch of rare small-batch somethings at a degustation. Some are better, some are worse, but ultimately all are shit. The stevia-like sweetness of corn is revolting, no matter how you cask or age it. I think only hipsters and people raised on a steady diet of HFCS can truly enjoy that stuff. Tequila and rye are the only good American spirits.

Naw, I read the full CDC survey last year and ahve read several others since.
compared to Millennials, Zoomers have
- less alcohol use
- less drug use
- fewer STD's
- fewer sexual partners
- lower rate of homelessness

the only group that was (much) worse off was the group "males having had sex with males" - not "identifying" as gay, but those who actually had sex with other guys.
They had startling levels of drug abuse, alcoholism, suicide, etc.

also: compared to Millennials, Zoomers:
- are more serious about saving money for the future, especially to buy a house
- sext much less
- first have sex when older
- plan to marry younger

I know they're easy to make fun of because of their stupid haircuts, but they're actually pretty based

Double distilling removes much of the volatiles - which cause hangovers because it takes more for your brain to clear it - but the proof is so high they have to knock it back with distilled water so it doesn't kill anyone.

This coming from a German? German beer is *objectively* superior to American pisswater. Legit Russian vodka goes down like water. High quality French or Italian wines are in a completely different league from, say, a California wine. High end tequilas have just the right amount of burn compared to the shitty well tequilas.

High quality (read: expensive) alcohol is a completely different experience, and well worth the price, but only if you're drinking for the taste. If you're only drinking to get drunk, buy a case of Natty Light, Old Grandad whisky, or the paint thinner they call vodka like Kamchatka, and get shitfaced on the cheapest, nastiest shit you can find. One of the worst hangovers I ever got was from vodka. But to be fair I drank enough to kill someone. The second worse was from red wine. And I didn't even really drink that much of it.

While I get both of your points I don't think hangovers are necessarily just that. Dehydration is a big part of it.. and simply the metabolizing of the alcohol itself. Your body has to get rid of it somehow. One thing I also noticed about hangovers is that if you stick to one type of drink... whatever it may be your body gets better at it. And the hangovers eventually go away. For example if you drink a lot of budweiser everyday ( not suggesting to actually do this ) eventually you won't get hangovers anymore.

For people who don't know, bourbon is distinct from whisky because it is aged in charred oak barrels. The charring causes the trehalose (wood sugar) to caramelize which then goes into the spirit as it ages.
Optimally, the barrel wood should have been first "cured" by getting it wet twice a day and then letting it dry in the sun, for a few years. This removes the bitter tannins.

Fun fact: The "used" bourbon barrels are often shipped to Europe where they are used as "neutral" barrels for sherry and scotch.

This is completely true. I could drink vodka or spiced rum all day, but I would be as sick as a dog if I strayed outside my area of expertise. I found tequila to be especially heinous in this regard. Also, it tastes foul.

My tastes changed. Used to drink it all the time in my late teens early 20’s.

Now in my 30’s I definitely prefer clear liquor. Gin and tequila are great. If I’m drinking brown liquor I greatly prefer scotch. Single malt is great but to be honest I like the cheap blended stuff too like Dewar’s or Cutty Sark. Hell I love a high quality rum too. Bourbon is basically the common hard liquor that I would reach for last. It’s just not enjoyable and the flavor is one dimensional, glad I moved on

Everything I've read does not consider the "Lincoln County Process" (charcoal filtering at the end) to be a "flavoring". Jack Daniels IS bourbon but they don't want to be called "bourbon". They want to be better, different, apart from (Kentucky) bourbon.
I think the charcoal filtering (at least the way they do it) adds two off flavors, for every off flavor they remove AND it also removes some of the desired flavors.
It's like drinking ashes.

But I dated a Russian girl once upon a time, and she had the connection for actual Russian vodka that somehow got past US inspections, and I gained an appreciation for why Russians are always portrayed as alcoholics - because their vodka is literally just water, but it fucks you up like you wouldn't believe.

Plus, my brother lives a short distance from Tito's distillery in Austin. He hooks me up. I enjoy Titos, as far as vodka goes. Not big on vodka - mostly just mix it, put it in jello shots or whatever. You don't use quality liquor for mixing.

I've seen a guy get hospitalized because his blood alcohol content was 0.32. For context, the lethal amount is like 0.35. They couldn't even stomach pump him, so they kept him overnight so he wouldn't choke to death on his own vomit. It was most certainly NOT cool.

I've also seen a guy die from renal (liver) failure. This guy would wake up at 2am and wander downstairs just to pour himself a shot of whiskey, like sleepwalking. The hospital literally prescribed him alcohol - they can do that, I found out - because in his weakened state, withdrawal would kill him. He died anyway. That bastard owed me a chess match and died before he could play me. I'll never forgive him for that. When I die I'm going to find his soul or whatever and demand a match from him, because not even death will deny me that promise.

>Then again, I don't drink to get drunk.
Same. Sometimes I do get drunk but usually that is at parties, where I am trying to survive the social situation through oblivion. If I drink alone at night it is to enjoy sipping something with complex flavor.

I have no idea. I didn't interfere in his business. He had a guy in Philly, he'd take trips up once a month or so, that's all I know. That, and I took one hit off that pen and I was blazed for like the next three hours.

Canadian Club and Windsor Canadian are decent.

The bargain brands like Canadian Hunter, Mist, Black Velvet are bad though.

I have no idea why Crown Royal exists. It's not bad, but it's expensive when you can get Windsor or Club for less than half the price

zooms don't drink because all the "cool" ones are on jewish pharmacological mood drugs (i.e. moo-drugs) so that breed of cattle doesn't mix with booze.
in addition:
a zoomer would need to gross $165,000 income annually to have any liquor in their budget, or they would be no different than an EBT nigger spending a tax refund on dunks (i.e. sneakers)

Drinking was for the most part a part of the social contract. That completely flew out the window years ago. The only uses for drinking heavy spirits like bourbon is to numb the pain of existence, which doom scrolling has already replaced. We went from alcoholic fat fucks to social media addicted perm cut rats.

They don't it's more that whiskey has been a massive fucking bubble (,or rather a series of bubbles,) due to GenX and late boomer mancave weirdos turning it into an icon of performative masculinity.
That Led to Sazerac (the biggest owner of American whiskey distilleries led by a literal Jew) to push prices into the stratosphere.
We're simply seeing an overdue market correction.
