i am beginning to think that 'life is the trap' and the ascetic lives of the wise men, from all valid forms of theological and philosophical thought, are the key to escape.
The problem is enticement and engagement with the material world; on a fundamental level we need the material to sustain our minds and bodies, but indulging in the material is where we lose sight of our souls desire to escape.

"Possession" is mostly a myth. An entity can't actually "embody" you, in the way it's depicted in Hollywood movies and the like. Instead they just latch onto you and your personal "sphere" (i.e your astro-emotional bodies) and exercise influence that way. You mentioned being attacked by shadow entities. One experience I had with AP, using the Gateway tapes, was to un-self myself, or to become everything and not just my body/mind, my concept of me in the AP. Doing this makes you an impossible target because you are not targetable.
I believe attacks are only possible if you have not yet learned how to un-self, because then there is still a hint of ego and therefore something for the entities to attack and feed off.

that's interesting because that's essentially what I've come to understand as well. I suppose it shows itself in different ways, to different people, but the concept is the same - you've been sent to hell/prison as punishment and you need to complete a certain task(s) to get out.

I don't claim any religion, but I've come to accept demons are real and they talk to everybody. I think this cause I've recognized demons trying to talk to me, even though I am happy and successful. They take your down periods and try to make you fester and wallow further down.
