the problem is this seems to be in direct conflict with what i always heard that cursive is meant to never pick your pen up once during your writing. but im not saying youre wrong, i heard both, which means cursive was definitely super gay, and we started adding the dots.

How would that work when each new word requires just that?
Sure, it's about developing a flow, so you can bring your thoughts to paper quickly and in a pleasantly legible form, but you have to lift the pen all the time anyways; punctuation demands it as well.
