Alaska was sold with no strings attached, and almost all Russian settlers returned too the Russian Empire shorty after the purchase (allegedly because they were afraid of "rowdy gun-toting civilians). There was even a big ceremony where Russian and American troops lowered te Russian flag and replaced it with an American flag. It's not like Ukraine where the only reason the territory was lost, was because the Soviet government was unsustainable and collapsed.
