One side abides by the dictates of British Empire (Pax Britannica) and the other by the American Empire (Pax Americana). Five Eyes is a British operation just like CANZUK (whereas AUKUS is the Americana operation). Cuba wasn't some fucking useless UN directive, the US blockaded Cuba, they depthchared a USSR submarine to force it to surface. There was a screen of fighters and interceptor, Nuclear bombers where in the air 24/7 and plans where ready to bomb and invade Cuba at the drop of a hat.
