Aldi>Lidl.
Aldi pays kingly salaries just so throughput at checkout is as fast as possible and doesn't force self checkout slop.
Lidl is often unreasonably small and poorly selected.

Here in Latvia Lidl is kind of shitty. You pay almost the same price for off-brand shit they offer as you do for brand stuff in stores like Maxima or Rimi that have been around forever.
Also they have less selection than these stores. 2nd tier 3rd tier store, I personally don't know anyone who primarily shops at Lidl.

Aldi was the first to do that low-margin business model with success and Aldi is still the king of that market. Competition is brutal there, few survive. Any market Lidl can survive on, Aldi can take a big share of too.

In Europe, your grocery stores actually suck. You all have no idea how small they are. I'll agree the products are still higher quality, but most items are still bullshit slop like america. Bread is probably the item you mog us on the most. Tesco was the only chain that I enjoyed over there because it was as large as supermarkets here. I would also argue you have less variety than us too. Stores in europe tend to dicksuck their own culture's cuisine or a close one nearby. I honestly think I could make more authentically european food than you all could make asian or south american. Indian is probably the only foreign culture that penetrated some supermarkets.

lidl stores are big enough for groceries. Problem with lidl is that they sell various shit at different times, and grocieries are mostly their own brand. Normal stores offer bigger variety than lidl in brands. I guess you prefer stores like wallmart where they sell everything, but buying tv, appliances, tools and furniture in "supermarket" is retarded concept.

It's one of the cheapest, but yeah, it's like aldi, they don't look like sovietic warehouses anymore and are all fancy now. I remember it was very cheap compared to other stores, but it was weird brands and there were no "non weird" brands.
Now I know they have "normal brands" and I just looked at price comparison and they're among the cheapest but it's by a very little margin, while I remember even the people destituted from the cheapest french one (leclerq), would go to aldi or lidl because it was even cheaper.
I guess the secret of aldi and lidl were the "weird brands".

This is definitely something I noticed, having been to Yurop about 12 times, even in Britland and Ireland. The food, on average and in general, is better in Europe, and in the US, to get similar-quality food, you have to pay more (of course) and seek it out.

Even in Bongland the food was generally quite good, despite the memes about Britslop.

That's right. They recently opened a Lidl in my neighborhood. I've bought a baguette there a few times. Last time it didn't seem as fresh as previously though.

The problem with lidl is that i always need to wait in line for way too long or do self checkout. Both options are annoying.

They come in different sizes. Its more varied than in the US where they seem to be all large.
Its not exactly a bad thing since they are scattered so the chance of having one near you is higher. In my place I literally have 3 supermarket chains in around a 15 block radius (although this is an exception).

Lidl doesn't sell the same products in Belgium and France. Their stuff is local and our stuff is from the Benelux. We are not buying German products or only in parts.

>You have too much money. Rewe is only for situations where you were too lazy to go to Lidl by 22:00 and your fridge is empty so you have to pay the Rewe tax. If you go to Rewe, you buy the most basic necessities, preferably from Ja! plus beer/wine.
