Alaska and Siberia are separated by a strait, one that would have been devastating in the case of a British attack. Just to remind you that tensions between the British empire and the Russian empire at that time were very high, considering Crimea and now the American civil war. Siberia is different in the fact that Russia, without it, would be surrounded by the eastern powers on one side, and the European powers on the other, with the Ottomans to the south. Holding on to Alaska was not advantageous at all, hence why it was sold. Speculating upon such ridiculous ideas is frankly stupid.
