>>512800233Just being chained up in a torture chamber and periodically tormented with a hot poker, pinchers, and having your hands/ass/feet/teeth scorched/poked/broken, etc. would be about as bad as it gets.
Months of laying aorund in fear of the next torment session before expiring would be the worst. I had a toothache that I ignored for months, and the moments when it'd come screaming back in the middle of the night were like a kind of torment I wouldn't wish on anyone.
Imagine now having your teeth broken in half with the nerves expoed, your fingers broken, and your ass burned with a poker, leaving you in a constant state of unbearable pain between hour-long sessions of excruciating torment beyond imagining.
Then thrown back into a cold cell to sleep on a hard floor while your body constantly signals pain from your exposed nerves.
Extended torment would be the worst. The torture chambers, to the extent that they were even real, had to be the most terrifying things.
There were genuine recorded torments that definitely did happen, but they were reserved for the worst of the worst.
I remember reading about some guys who plotted against the king, and they had to watch as the others were burned with pokers, had their feet put to the fire, etc. Having your feet burned to the bone while alive would be terrible. So the remaining guys attempted to kill themselves before it could be done to them, trying to choke themselves with their restraints.
They failed.
