Let's talk about depression and antidepressants
What worked best for you?
I've been in a deep depression for 3 years now. The symptoms started showing up a couple of months after a very debilitating Covid infection (I didn't expect it'd be so rough). Now I'm tapering off Paxil because for some reason it doesn't work anymore.
I often see you all criticize SSRIs, but during my first bout of depression in 2018 it was extremely helpful.
Apart from low spirits, my main symptoms right now are lack of the following: motivation, concentration, hunger or libido. I also feel a malaise that usually accompanies an infection, and sometimes feel dizzy or nauseous.
I should go see a psychiatrist soon, because they're impossible to ignore at this point and severity, but I will only heed his advice if Ihe gives me something that's /pol/-approved

I find that for myself, the cure to depression is identifying your insecurities, and working diligently towards erasing them. You can never do this, btw, but you can manage it very well. Nothing in one’s mind ever “erases” but new habits can form, is what I am saying
Find out what the source of your big sad is, and then find out the steps to take to make it better

You need to get your money up son. Very few people manage to be depressed while driving a convertible Ferrari.

Think of all the victims of your future mass murder.

I’m familiar with Paxil as a friend was on it for several years. It made him a fucking asshole but he got pussy like crazy. It eventually fucked with his nervous system and he’s a schizo now.

Stimulants or MAOIs are the only drugs that actually help. Stimulants might make you tweak out though and shouldn’t be used daily. MAOIs have some dietary restrictions but are safer than many think. The SSRI big pharma fags just wanted to market their new drug more effectively, so MAOIs were demonized. Regardless, good luck getting some midwit doctor to override his programming and let you try one.

Covid infection? Are you retarded? Do you believe in long covid too? Why didn't you take the jab? I thought the EU has better vaccines.

Do not take the chemical jew, go sign up for a a masculinity training course, be with fellow men. Abstain from women until marriage, do not fap. Ever.

You need to find stress relief natrually, take some ashwaganda and kratom and walk it off

Exercise and have your diet sorted out. Vitamin D, magnesium, zinc, you know, the usual. In the meantime a single dose of psilocybin works for a few weeks. After that the effects diminish and you have to take another dose. I think 25mg is the standard dose for this use. Ketamine has similar effects - rapid acting and long lasting after a single dose

Wanna hear a funny story that happened to me? When I was about to take Paxil in late March 2018, after a deep depression (but with fewer symptoms than now) and panic attacks, I read all the sheet with contraindications and side effects, and one of the most common was "sexual dysfunction, which included low libido and ED. I shrugged it off as I really couldn't care less. So I started taking it in late March (20mg). On April 1st (Easter, didn't even need to check the calendar), I started feeling great for the first time in a long time, and 3 days later my libido exploded. I'd never felt so much libido ever in my life. I even sent half-jokingly lewd text message to a couple of female friends. I started reading the sheet with side effects because I remembered the sexual dysfunction, but not the opposite: there wasn't in fact.
I didn't know what to do. I couldn't get worried because one of the effects of the drug was that it took away all possible insecurities and conerns, but I was puzzled by this unmentioned side effect and hope it didn't drag on for too long, otherwise I'd have to talk (and probably laugh uncontrollably) to the psychiatrist about this. Ultimately, after a couple of the horniest days in my life, it faded away somewhat, but my libido was still much higher than it's ever been.

depression is just one of the symptoms of industrial society. humans are biologically wired for primitive life and you were suddenly thrown into a soulless concrete zoo. you can "self-improve" how ever you like but ultimately it won't change anything

Psychiatry stands on this singular pillar revolving around a theory about a "chemical imbalance" in your brain.
Until they can measure your brain chemistry they can not credibly claim "these pills do this and that" because they can't even define what the correct chemical balance of your brain chemistry should be.
I've been on that rollercoaster ride you're on before and tried many types anti-depressants, none of which seem to work. Or maybe felt like they worked somewhat for a week or two and then stopped producing the same effect. Leaving me feel dull, tired, unable to get sexually aroused, etc.
Try swapping those useless jewpills for magnesium, zinc, and creatine supplements and come back in a couple weeks and tell us how you feel.

A psychiatrist provides medication to treat mental health disorders. You're thinking of a psychologist. Most psychiatrists are also male.

Do not fuck around and take advice from people here. Talk to a psychiatrist regularly. Just because one SSRI didn't work well does not mean others also will not work. Do not take Sertraline(Zoloft) as it gives extreme heartburn and fuck the motherfuckers who made that SSRI.

If your psychiatrist recommends Citalopram or Venlafaxine XR, I recommend trying it. It takes many weeks and potentially months before full effect takes place. Good luck.
