Depends on where you are. I don't know how fed or ICE hiring works, but I always assumed that it was more lax at the entry level. Reading through the listing it says you "may" be recommended to to take a polygraph. I know over on the East Coast apparently law enforcement agencies rarely do those for hiring. Over here on the West Coast they are a standard part of the process.

Really it would come down to whether or not you're in a wealthier city where the department almost never takes new hires and only takes veteran laterals and you're getting payed more to do less. OR are you in an area that is already busier/ghetto with more work and slightly less pay?

Depends on how much you want to be doing, for some people that honeymoon phase where you're happy to finally have the job and want to learn and work all you can feels great and you get paid well for doing it.
